Hopefully you’ve watched Video 1 and Video 2 so far. These videos build on each other so if you haven’t viewed them, please do so.

Overview:

In this video, I discuss how important doing your market research is. You can get into some of the niche forums, Google groups and Yahoo groups and also use the Google Keyword Tool to gather up all the information you need on your chosen niche.

I cover the importance of selling value first before you start to sell your potential customers the solution to their problems. Help people. It will come back to you a hundred fold.

Also, I want you to ask many questions yourself. If you don’t something, you don’t know. Don’t waste time getting frustrated…find someone who knows the answers.

Now that you are getting yourself prepared, you need to write down your vision. A vision of where you want to go, not only professionally, but personally as well. Many of us go through life without any sense of direction. Don’t let this happen to you.

And lastly, you need to set daily goals. This will keep you on track – on a time table to get so much accomplished…

Overview:

There is nothing better than being prepared before you venture out to start up an online business. It’s really different from just getting up and going to work for 8 hours. You need the correct mindset, the right attitude, the commitment and a place to go when things aren’t going the way you’d like them to…

In this video, I discuss how to find your strengths and weaknesses and your likes and dislikes related to the Internet and beyond for that matter.

We all have God given gifts and we need to use these gifts to truly be successful and make a difference in this big, sometimes not so pretty world, to change it for the better.

I also touch on how to catch the “entrepreneurial spirit” versus a regular job. When you finally start building your online business, you have to have the mindset of such. And it’s hard. Most of us have brains wired for the corporate world, not chasing a dream…

I talk about how you need the right attitude…not being desperate…always chasing the money. This will get you no where very quickly.

Making a commitment at the very beginning is also extremely important. There will be those days (like Mamma says) that will knock you completely off track. You just need to be prepared for those kinds of things but not to let that hold you back.

When things do go wrong, one thing I do all of the time is find something motivational – inspirational or funny to get me back on track. Some people might think that’s silly, but it’s worked for me on many occasions.

So these are the kinds of things that will be covered in this video.

Your Internet Marketing Plan In Simple Steps

So you want to earn a full-time living from Internet Marketing?

How are you going to do it? We don’t mean the nitty-gritty details, because we can help you with that. We mean the fundamental questions like…

  • Do have any writing or communication skills?
  • Do you have any specialized knowledge that other people would be willing to pay for?
  • Can you foresee yourself creating your own products or services or do you simply want to sell other people’s products and earn commission?

These are the basic questions you need to resolve BEFORE you plan out your course of action.

Before anything else, though, let’s be brutally blunt and get this out of the way once and for all…

REALITY CHECK

If you cannot communicate in writing, you will never succeed as a marketer online or offline.

Does that sound a little harsh?

It doesn’t matter if it does because it is a simple fact of life. Either you need to be able to write effectively OR you need to be able to communicate CLEARLY to other people exactly what you want them to write on your behalf.

If you had the knowledge, could you sit down in front of a keyboard and monitor and write a short article like this one? Could you fashion your knowledge into clear, precise sentences?

Well if not, could you describe in words to someone else exactly what you wanted them to write on your behalf? I don’t mean instructions like “write about planning your business,” I mean much more detailed instructions. Maybe you write an outline of what you want to say made up of a whole series of bullet points and let someone else flesh it out for you.

If you can’t do either of these things (write for yourself, or clearly instruct others what to write on your behalf,) give up thinking about your own products or services and focus straight away on selling other peoples’ products using the marketing tools that they provide and follow the DO’s and Dont’s of internet marketing.

The Internet Marketer’s Plan:

1) Define your knowledge base:

What knowledge do you possess (or you can quickly learn) that you can pass on to other people in exchange for their money?

Think about this…nobody will buy your knowledge from you just because it interests them. However, many people will buy your knowledge from you if it helps them solve a pressing problem or end their confusion over something that’s important to them.

If you have information to share, or have the ability to research and gather information on a niche topic, (everyone has that ability, actually) you can make money if that information fulfills a need.

Since the beginning of history, people have been making money selling information, and this will continue forever. It all boils down to helping other people save time and money. Even if they have the ability to create something, buying the information from you can help them avoid having to learn the hard way – through research of their own.

Basically, you do the research or use what you already know and sell the results to other people who want that knowledge, or who want to use what you’ve created. The better the quality of information or service, the higher the price you can demand. With a global online market, you can create and sell just about anything. If there is a market for it which there nearly always is, you can build a business around it.

So, defining your knowledge base is your first step. What knowledge do you possess or you can quickly learn that you can pass on to other people in exchange for their cash?

2) Decide if you are going to create your own products:

Having just debunked one myth, (being able to communicate clearly) I might as well press on and debunk another one…

REALITY CHECK

Creating your own product is VERY time-consuming and can easily fail, no matter how much effort you put in to its creation.

Let me give you an example, so you understand the facts…

Right at the moment, along with “Casper”, we’re preparing a new product for launch on the Internet next year. When finished, it will have taken two people over 6 months of intense thought and effort to produce. At the end of the day, we have no way of knowing whether our efforts will be rewarded or whether this product will flop…oh yes, even experienced marketers can create flops!

So… are you prepared to take the gamble, or would you prefer to follow the safer course of action and sell other peoples’ products?

3) Decide if you are going to sell existing products and services:

It is also possible to earn good money online selling existing products and services. There are two ways to do this…

  1. By acquiring the resale rights to a product.
  2. By promoting products and services as an affiliate.

We’ll touch briefly on resale rights first…

On the Internet you’ll see many products, especially in the Internet marketing niche, being sold with resale rights. While this can be a profitable model, you have to remember that if you go this route, you will be competing against all the other people who also bought those rights. And that can create problems if there are hundreds or even thousands of others selling the same thing.

In fact, the safest route is to find a LIMITED RESALE RIGHTS product where only a small handful of people are granted the resell rights. Though this is, on the face of it, more expensive, the returns are significantly greater due to the scarcity of the product and you can usually recoup your money very quickly.

With such products, not only are you presented with a turnkey business, you also have the option to set up your own affiliate program for the product, and pay others to sell it for you. Don’t you think that could be a worthwhile way of beating the competition hands-down?

4) How are you going to sell your product?

You are at the crucial stage of deciding on your marketing strategy. Are you going to sell using affiliates and give away a chunk of your profits or are you going to try and sell by yourself and keep all your turnover?

The view that most people take is that it’s best to get others selling for you. After all, 50% of a lot of money is far better than 100% of nothing.

And while on the subject of affiliate marketing, it is, of course, a valuable option to use yourself as well as offering it to others. It offers more versatility and can prove very profitable, so let’s talk a little more about it…

Affiliate marketing is simply promoting existing products or services on a commission only basis. Every time you make a sale you earn a commission. There are affiliate programs in just about any niche you can imagine.

Whatever niche you plan to develop your business around, you’ll more than likely be able to find affiliate programs you can join that will augment the money you earn from your own product sales.

In addition to selling your own products and services, you should also promote products as an affiliate. Every week I see my Paypal account growing. These commissions are from merchants paying me on sales I made for them.

There are advantages and disadvantages to affiliate marketing…

Advantages:

  • You save time and money since the work of creating the product has already been done by the merchant.
  • There is no need to worry about payment processing or order fulfillment since the merchant handles those aspects.

Disadvantages:

  • You have no control over the product/service or the commission percentages since you do not own the product.
  • You cannot open your own affiliate program and use the massive power of affiliates, since the merchant is already doing that for this product/service.

Even if you plan to go the affiliate route, you still need a website of your own. Your website will be the hub of your business. The place where you share information about your niche, establish credibility and grow an opt-in list.

It is as essential to an affiliate based business as it is to a business selling its own products and services.

In closing, if you’re just starting out, become an affiliate first to get your feet wet. After you learn those ropes, I’d say it’s time to venture out to create your own informational products.

Must-Know Lessons on Internet Marketing

Billions of people around the world log on to the Internet everyday for surfing social networking sites, learning Internet marketing strategies, seeking entertainment and news.

Surfing from every corner of the world means that no two people are the same. Views differ so greatly from one person to the next that it can be difficult to find your target audience. And even more so to find the time to market your products to all of them! So without further ado, let’s see our first step – Time Management.

Time Management – Don’t Let Those Hours Slip Away!

Internet Marketing LessonsIn any type of Internet marketing, it is crucial to pace yourself. Finding out what works takes patience. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your online business be.

Make a schedule for yourself and stick to it! If you know you only have two hours per day to devote to your business, make those two hours count! Break up tasks by day. A sample schedule might look like this:

Monday: utilize those two hours by calling current customers to check in on them, find out if they need to re-order. Get feedback on the products they have purchased, give them suggestions on new products. Show them you care and appreciate their business.

Tuesday: contact folks who have shown an interest in partnering with you, that is, become an affiliate member for your business. Tell them about the company and assess their interest. Meet with them for coffee (if possible) to show how the affiliate business really can work for them!

Wednesday: network with other marketers online and study the market trends. Having others to bounce ideas off of can greatly enhance your motivation and productivity.

Thursday: surf the web and make a list of places you would like to advertise your business. There are millions of websites out there so this can be an ongoing project! Use an excel workbook to keep notes on the URL, their audience and cost of advertising.

Friday: place ads on a few of the websites on your list. And make sure to check on traffic and sales from those ads. This will tell you later if it is worth marketing on those sites again.

Saturday: visit discussion forums and become part of the conversation! Make sure to place your website and blog address in your signature line to optimize traffic and networking opportunities.

Sunday: write on you blog! Blogging is an essential feature of an online money making business. You can personally connect with a wider audience through your blog marketing.

Now that our schedule is in place, it’s time to really understand the relationships between advertising, blogs and networking in forums. This brings us to our next step in Marketing.

Ripping Apart the Secrets of Internet Marketing Success – Right at the Seams

The biggest mistake in Internet marketing is that people assume they will place an ad on one website and they will be rich overnight. This does not happen.

Internet Marketing takes time, patience and a real understanding of your target audience. For instance, you would not want to sell dog biscuits on a website that caters to cat lovers. While you might get a few lucky hits, the majority of the traffic on our fictitious website will only be interested in cat related items.

Do your Research!

While Alexa Ratings and Google can give you a really good idea of the number of visitors a website is getting; data will not give you a feel for the audience. Go to the website, join the forum, and make friends before spending advertising dollars there.

The visitors who feel like they know you will be much more likely to spread the word about your business and bring you new customers than simply going to a website, paying for an ad and moving on.

Sell Yourself, Not Your Products!

People buy from you because they like you! Personality is the key to making any network marketing venture work. Let’s put it another way: since this is a really important lesson to learn, it is of utmost importance that you understand why your personality is your best sales technique!

For example, you want to buy a new radio. You go to the nearest electronic shop and take a peek around. The clerk at the desk shows no interest in you, instead he is playing a computer game. You walk over to the clerk to discuss a radio that you are interested in purchasing and the clerk answers your questions quickly and returns to his game. How likely are you to buy from that shop? Not very likely at all!

There is another electronic shop around the corner. You walk in and the clerk immediately responds, asking what you’re looking for, complimenting your jacket and making general conversation while you look around. This is the store you are going to buy from!

The other store clerk only showed an interest in his computer game. He was clearly not interested in you or if you were interested in purchasing a radio. The Second clerk was much friendlier and was willing to invest in the time with you in order to make a sale.

Like this, your blog should be an extension of your website. It should sell you NOT sell your products!

Make your posts interesting and upbeat, giving the reader a good sense of your personality. If you do product reviews, do them from a personal experience of your own or a customer. Use your blog to open discussions with potential costumers. For instance, if you are interested in glassblowing, give lots of information on glassblowing. Allow for comments on your posts to let others share in their opinions.

Remember everything takes time! There is no magic that will make you rich over night, but with persistence, each day will bring you a bit closer to that goal. If you dream it, you can achieve it!
