Private Label Rights Explained…

Here is one of those things Income Insiders readers that I use to get hung-up every time I heard or read an Internet Marketer offering a product with PLR attached to it…it made my head spin!

PLR or Private Label Rights

Private Label Rightswhat they mean – how you’re allowed to use them – how you can’t use them and what the benefits are.

Private Label Content comes in many different formats, including PLR reports, ebooks, articles, graphics, templates and even videos.

Once you buy a certain PLR product, you also bought additional rights, such as the right to resell it, or the right to offer it for free to your readers, or the right to replace the author’s name with yours and sell it as if it was written by you personally.

It can be very confusing for there are different kinds of PLR offered with a product. I want to make sure you know the meaning of each and what the different rights are.

Below is a list and description of the different kinds of PLR available. Hopefully, you’ll be better able to understand how this all works…

PLR – Private Label Rights:

You own the entire product and individual copyright. You are free to alter or modify the original contents, edit and remove pieces, apply your own Private Label of ownership, and use or sell as you see fit.

PBR – Private Branding Rights:

You own the entire product but not necessarily the full copyright. You are free to alter or modify many of the items in the original contents as designated, apply your own Private Label of ownership, and use as you see fit, and terms may include maintaining the original Author’s Copyright and other portions of the original content as specified by the original product license.

MBR – Master Branding Rights:

You own the “Master Rights” to the product but DO NOT own the copyright. You are free to alter and modify only limited specific items of the original contents and you may or may not be allowed to apply your own Private Label of ownership in addition to the original copyright as designated by that particular license. You are free to use and sell the product and may also sell these same rights to others within the terms of that product’s prescribed license.

MRR – Master Resale Rights:

You own the “Master Rights” to the product but DO NOT own the copyright. You ARE NOT allowed to alter or modify the product from its original form. You may or may not be allowed to apply your own Private Label of ownership in addition to the original copyright as designated by that particular license. You are free to use and sell the product and may also sell these same rights to others within the terms of that product’s prescribed license.

RR – Resale Rights:

You own the “Resale Rights” ONLY to the product. You DO NOT own the copyright. You ARE NOT allowed to alter or modify the product from its original form. You ARE NOT allowed to apply your own Private Label of ownership. You are ONLY allowed to use and sell the product yourself. You MAY NOT sell or transfer these same Resale Rights to others, or other restrictions within the specific terms of that product’s prescribed license.

Income Insiders will be offering additional posts about PLR and how it can benefit your business. But for now, please get familiar with the different options…sometimes I still get confused…
