May 21, 2011…End Of The World As We Know It?

…Will you be left behind?

I was reading many of the articles surrounding tomorrow’s date, MAY 21, 2011 and how Bible goers and Christians truly believe that this kicks off the rapture, followed by 5 months which is the tribulation, finally in October – the end of the world as we know it.

End Of The WorldWhat many believe is He is giving us advanced warning as to what He is about to do. On Judgment Day, May 21st, 2011, this 5-month period of horrible torment will begin for all the inhabitants of the earth.

It will be on May 21st that God will raise up all the dead that have ever died from their graves. Earthquakes will ravage the whole world as the earth will no longer conceal its dead (Isaiah 26:21).

People who died as saved individuals will experience the resurrection of their bodies and immediately leave this world to forever be with the Lord.

Those who died unsaved will be raised up as well, but only to have their lifeless bodies scattered about the face of all the earth. Death will be everywhere.

Now being a Christian myself, I read a couple of pages of the Bible to start my day, every day along with a daily devotional…

But I have to say, I missed the mathematics involved with this. This article excerpt was written by Gus Lubin, Business Insider:

The first End Of The World proof is based on Genesis 7:4, when God said to Noah: “Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”

When God referred to seven days, he meant both seven days and seven thousand years, because “one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” The flood occurred in 4990 BC. Seven thousand years later is 2011.

The second End Of The World proof looks at the significance of the number of days between the Crucifixion and May 21, 2011.

There are 722,500 days between these dates. 722,500 is a significant number because it is composed of the significant numbers 5x10x17x5x10x17. Five signifies redemption; ten signifies completion; and 17 signifies heaven. The numbers represent the day of redemption (5) and the end of the Christian era (10) and the ascent to heaven (17) — and these factors are doubled for added significance.

Now I’m not saying one way or the other if I believe somehow the Bible is giving us clues and a heads up to be prepared, but I can say I’m finding it a little unnerving.

What I do believe is that someday, it WILL take place. But my assessment from reading the scriptures is that God comes back like a thief in the night – in a blink of an eye. God only knows for certain the exact day – the exact hour He will allow this to take place.

My question to you is…have you given it any thought if it is true?

I take care of an older gentleman, a cancer – stroke and brain tumor survivor who loves the Lord and seriously prays many times a day for the coming back of Jesus Christ. He honestly gets excited when he sees turmoil…for example the Middle-East chaos and the happenings with Israel currently. He thinks it brings the Rapture closer…

He’s suffering and wants to go I assume, but when he asks me if I’m ready…I have mixed emotions.

For one thing, I love my life and the people in it. Yes, there is much evil and suffering but all in all, life is a beautiful gift.

I feel my work is not done here yet, but I also realize that Heaven will be such a better place…if I make it to Heaven? Will my other family members make it? Friends? My Dog?

I guess for me it all comes down to the unknown of what will be…

Maybe this is just a wake-up call for all of us to take stock in our values and beliefs. We should take the time to look at ourselves and ask what it is we truly believe in…Now would be a great time…

I’ve read many tweets and heard many jokes about May 21st being the end, and I hear some people want to just party. I like to party but not this time!

I personally believe in God, that Jesus will be back for us as God has promised and by putting my trust in Him, anything is possible.

So if tomorrow never comes…what say you? Leave your comments below.

I too have found this whole thing to be MORE than a little unnerving. But my son, who was a drug-addict for 15 years, was saved and healed spiritually and physically by the wonderful person I think of as my Heavenly Father.
There is so much going on in the world today that is terrible: the economy, the trouble in the middle east, Al-Queda, etc etc. But I also love so many wonderful beautiful things about this world and the earth that we inhabit. So part of me is not ready. I have reservations for the shore next month that I look so forward to all winter. I have two wonderful little granddaughters who I want to watch grow up, and a wonderful new life in New Jersey in a beautiful neighborhood. To sum up- I dont know what to think or what I think about it !!!! All I do know is that my vision of Heaven is a beautiful, wonderful place where there will be no more suffering of any kind. And lots of hot-fudge Sundaes that dont make you fat ! And lots of lovely oceans in which to swim. And my entire family will all be together. I dont know if I’m ready for all of this to take place, but I know that the Lord will take care of me and everyone I love. So, either way, I’m ready. God bless you all

I do have some belief in all of what is being said. I am not a Christian, but I believe in what my peoples call Creator. I believe that it is all one in the same. God, Jesus, Heavenly Father, Creator. He is one man, the man we all look to for guidance and strength to get through.
I believe that in due time He will ‘clean’ up this Earth. I believe we are hurting him by not taking care of the place he gave us to live. Maybe we can’t say exactly when this allel commence, but it will happen. There is to much going on down here that he isn’t proud of.
Am I ready? I’m too am not exactly sure. I have three beautiful kids to raise. I want to enjoy every moment I have with them. I have a wonderful helpful caring man in my life. I’m not sure if I’m ready to leave that. But I do believe that if you believe He will take care of you and trust Him with your life and the life of your loved ones then when He is done we will be in a better place. Heaven. Where there is only good. No pain. Only laughter and smiles. And that is what I can’t wait for. So in a way I am ready.
