4 Halloween Controversies…What Do They Have in Common?

Halloween…a night that used to be set aside for kids to enjoy going house to house gathering candy, wearing fun or scary costumes to disguise themselves and a little touch of frightening fun.

Halloween ControversyI remember when I was little (mid 60’s to early 70’s)…looking forward to dressing up and heading out into the darkness, searching for the best candy to be dropped into my decorated pillow case and eating it for the next week or two.

We were watched by our parents and actually the entire neighborhood parents watched all of us. The porch lights were all lit and even the cops passed out pretzels while they slowly rode the streets, scanning for maybe a little vandalism…smashed pumpkins.

Halloween was definitely a night for fun back then.

Now it’s 2011 Halloween…what in the world has happened to such an innocent, fun, kids night out?

Halloween Controversy. Surprise, surprise!

Just like everything else these days, society has turned something good and wholesome into ridiculous opinions – being offensive or simply just not politically acceptable.

I was scanning the news clips and articles and found some interesting Halloween controversies;

1) Changing the Holiday from Oct.31st to Saturdays: (Article from The Week)

One lawmaker says it’s time to change tradition. Connecticut state Rep. Tim Larson (D) wants the state legislature to permanently designate the last Saturday in October as the night for trick-or-treating. He says that would make the holiday easier for parents, because they wouldn’t have to dash home from work when Halloween falls on a weekday. Plus, he says, Halloween is a $7 billion a year industry, so anything that makes it run more smoothly will create jobs.

My comment…

Create jobs? Wow…if that’s the best our government can do on the job front, we’re definitely in some serious, deep trouble.

Change tradition? I can’t for the life of me understand why some “lawmakers” want to change tradition. Sounds like it would just make it easier for him. They need to stick to the real issues facing our country instead of worrying about what day Halloween is celebrated.

Also, if parents would race home to get their kids dressed and out the door like my parents did, they just might consider this family time? Remember that? I wonder how my parents did it with 5 of us year after year.I didn’t realize I was putting them out…give me a break.

2) Costumes: “Sexy Anorexia” (CNN Health)

Anna Rexia.

The Anna Rexia costume features a black bodysuit style dress with a glittery, silk-screened skeleton print, bone headband, heart name tag, measuring tape ribbon belt, and the most shocking accessory of all – a matching measuring tape choker! We’re not sure if the costume manufacturer intended for the choker to be a pun.

Alicia Brockwell, told CNN that the designer is no longer with the company.

“We understand that some people will not find the dark humor funny,” said Brockwell. “Or that they are sensitive to the topic it addresses. We don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings and would never want to cause harm to anyone. Dreamgirl is a company run by women for women. Halloween is an eccentric and irreverent holiday for people to express themselves in a myriad of ways. While some people may not like a particular costume – it is a matter of taste and personal discretion.”

My comment…

No parent in their right mind would put such a costume on one of their small daughters. Period.

3) Cedar Point Attraction:(Fox 8 News)

The Ohio Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is calling on Cedar Point to shut down the haunted Halloween attraction, “Dr. D. Mented Asylum for the Criminally Insane.”

It is a walk-though display that features scores of room, including one showing a skinless patient lying in agony on a gurney, a crazed woman in a mask and straight-jacket , and a man grimacing in pain, strapped to an electric chair.

“I would hope that they would close this ride,” Michael Baskin, the executive director of NAMI Cleveland said.

The organization believes showing people suffering from mental illness as demonic and deranged perpetuates negative, old-fashioned stereotypes and crosses the line.

“Taking advantage, in a way ,of a population that is in need of care and this is careless,” Baskin said.

Cedar Point Spokesman Robin Innes said the attractions do not portray reality and did not mean to offend anyone. Innes defended the haunted asylum display, saying people who visit the park know the displays don’t represent reality. “A lot of it originates from the old 50s movies. So, we are just giving a retro-effect on that and it’s not our intent to disrespect anybody with mental illness,” Innes said.

My comment…

This kind of thing has been around forever. Take the devil…many young kids portray this character by wearing a red suit of some sort and carrying a pitch fork. Or, dressing up like a hobo. Kids aren’t making fun of homeless people. In their innocent minds, it’s just a character…

4) Halloween Billboard Stirs Controversy On North Side « (CBS Pittsburgh)

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — As many as 70 billboards have gone up in the area promoting a place called the Haunted Hayloft.

It’s an attraction in Somerset County, where they re-enact a double-hanging that occurred there in the 1890′s.

But, one of the billboards on Perrysville Avenue on Pittsburgh’s North Side has its critics. The reason is the billboard shows a shadow-like figure hanging from a tree.

“I know that billboard is not representing Halloween and it’s in a neighborhood that is 99 percent black – right in front of project housing where there is no whites,” Brandon Humphrey told KDKA-TV. “I think it’s offensive.”

Other people say they didn’t see it that way.

“My honest reaction when I first saw it, I thought it was like a Halloween thing, but I could see how some people could take it the wrong way – they might take it racially when it’s not meant that way,” Angela Robins, a North Side resident, said.

“People need to grow up and realize it’s Halloween and stop taking stuff so serious,” Latonir Gray said.

My comment…

Listen. Can you see what these controversies have in common?

It’s no longer about our kids. It’s about adults taking what used to be a kids holiday and molding it into their own holiday however, screwing that up too.

Tell me, what holiday is “just for kids” anymore? Not Easter – Christmas – Halloween…

Can’t we let our kids be kids for a change without adults taking control? We’re cramming sex of all kinds and political views of all kinds down their throats at very early ages and now, taking away their innocent fun.

My final suggestion:

If adults want to play dress up for Halloween, do it on that “Saturday” that Democrat Tim Larson wants so badly and leave Oct.31st for trick-or-treat…For Kids Only.

I Don’t Just Remember 9-11. I Never Forgot It.

It’s a little weird for me to hear people say, “I remember this, this and this about that day, 9-11.”

I guess it’s because I never forgot this, this and this about that day, 9-11…

Before the awful, disturbing, devastating images were brought before my eyes,
this is what I never forgot;

I Don't Just Remember 9-11. I Never Forgot It

  • Where I was.
  • What I was doing.
  • The deafening sound of silence.
  • How crystal clear and beautiful the day was.
  • What America’s reality turned into in a matter of minutes.
  • Co-workers desperately wanting to leave to be with their kids and family.
  • Feelings of uneasiness in my chest.
  • Not understanding.
  • Emotions of hatred against this unseen enemy.
  • Going into question of “Why?” What the hell did we ever do?

After watching the news coverage and seeing the destruction – the hell – the murder – the pure agony, this is what I never forgot;

  • Watching suffering people jumping to their death.
  • Destruction everywhere, fires of hell, the choking smoke.
  • People seemingly running nowhere.
  • The raging overwhelm.
  • The genuine helplessness.
  • Fearing there was much more to come.
  • Harboring more hatred.
  • Connecting with family – friends and neighbors somewhat huddling together to feel safe.
  • Listening to the death count rising by the minute.
  • Being numbed by the horrific images plastered on TV.
  • Wanting to do something/anything to help.
  • Breeding even more hatred against these freaks that did this in the name of love –
    peace and their god.
  • Feelings of nausea watching celebrations/dancing taking place on the streets by such a perverted group of people.
  • Still not understanding.

The days that followed 9-11, this is what I never forgot;

  • Buckets placed on every other street from firefighters and policeman asking for contributions.
  • Whipping out my wallet to help fill them.
  • Praying for all the people involved in this New York/American tragedy.
  • Realizing how those evil – poor excuse for human beings tried everything in their power to take away America’s innocence.
  • Watching the best of humanity surface while watching the worst.
  • The comradery of Americans no matter where they lived.
  • Americans being more patient and loving towards one another.
  • Pulling together as one nation, defending what is ours and no one elses.
  • Watching the fear of many twisted into some kind of sick conspiracy theory.
  • Feelings of pride that our President and Mayor took complete leadership.
  • Admiring all the heroes who sacrificed their lives to help the others.
  • And a lot more which I’ll keep to myself.

But take a good look at us now…

These grotesque terrorists on 9-11, got one hell of a major rush that day that they have ever felt, watching intently as so many innocent American lives were being completely torn apart and destroyed.

However, not as big as the rush they’re probably experiencing today as their destruction still continues…we are ravaging each other.

Whether it’s just taken this long to fester or what, I don’t have that answer but I feel that day started some kind of vengeful or a hatred ball rolling among us…not towards the 9-11 slimy monsters where it belongs.

Think about all the unnecessary hatred and pure bullshit surrounding us 10 years later;

Racism is back in full swing – everyone is defending some kind of right they think they have regardless of who it may hurt – you want to sue someone… go ahead. It’s the norm.

We have a government that disregards what the American people want, even though we put them there, but hey, so what. What’s right is wrong and what’s wrong is right. People kill – steal – beat each other nearly to death like it’s nothing. Just another day.

And the most disturbing is that “God’s Presence In America” is evaporating into thin air, right out of our site.

And all these conspiracy theories? You got to be frickin kidding me. Why do some feel we need an excuse? They hate us. They desperately want to kill – annihilate as many of us as possible. It is what it is…but again, some Americans are mistrusting their own people.

Do you realize these maniacs are laughing their asses off just by watching us? And yes, they simply love taking all the credit and glory for disrupting our way of life watching feverishly from their tiny – filthy holes they call home.

We now are giving these loathsome – sleazy worms more power than ever. We are giving them exactly what they want. And that’s better than all the virgins they could ever acquire in their heaven that they talk about. The prize, the end goal…killing us to get to them.

America has changed so much since that day. Our hatred is snow balling in a horrific fashion faster than any technology that has ever or ever will be created.

Does anyone agree that it seems we are turning on each other? What are we becoming? Well, it needs to stop.

And for those of you who have decided you hate and want to bash America OR for you, the paranoid conspiracy theorists out there, you need to go. Get out of our way. Leave the rest of us loyal – hard working – compassionate Americans alone to never forget the truth of what happened that fateful day; the lives lost and the loving Americans who did everything in their power to help.

God Bless all the Americans who lost their lives, their families, all the firefighters, policeman, friends, families and strangers who pulled together – stood together, defending what they know to be true…

And our troops. THE best the Global world has ever, ever seen. They were ready to fight for our freedom on a moments notice, defending me – you – your kids and your families to this very day…

The worst of humanity meeting the best of humanity…something I don’t just remember, but what I never forgot.

Here’s a wonderful song that I feel depicts 9-11…We finally did get Bin Laden since this was recorded and I hope we get the rest of those twisted bloodsuckers before I am laid to rest.

My last thought…

Always remember to fully honor our beloved American heroes that helped and gave selflessly and are continuing to do so as I’m writing this to save the rest of us Americans… They all must be placed high on a pedestal…

We are so much safer 10 years later because of them all.
And to them let me say…I don’t just remember.
I truly never forgot or…ever will.

The 4th of July…What is Happening to America?

First off…Happy 4th of July to all of our loyal Income Insiders readers! I hope you and yours safely enjoy this holiday weekend.

Now, this post has taken somewhat of a twist.

I had a theme in mind but something I read blew my theme and me completely out of the water…

The 4th of JulyHere it is…

I came across an article from Us News about a study that Harvard did about the 4th of July.
Truly, I couldn’t believe what I was reading…I thought Harvard was supposed to be such an outstanding institution…

Here’s the headline: Harvard: July 4th Parades Are Right-Wing

What the hell? When did the 4th of July become about Republicans? I guess I’m stupid…I was under the impression that the 4th of July was about all “Americans” and “American Tradition” celebrating our freedom…am I wrong? I guess I am according to these Harvard professors…

Here’s a little of this ignorant study:

Democratic political candidates can skip this weekend’s July 4th parades. A new Harvard University study finds that July 4th parades energize only Republicans, turn kids into Republicans, and help to boost the GOP turnout of adults on Election Day.

“Fourth of July celebrations in the United States shape the nation’s political landscape by forming beliefs and increasing participation, primarily in favor of the Republican Party,” said the report from Harvard.

“The political right has been more successful in appropriating American patriotism and its symbols during the 20th century. Survey evidence also confirms that Republicans consider themselves more patriotic than Democrats. According to this interpretation, there is a political congruence between the patriotism promoted on Fourth of July and the values associated with the Republican party. Fourth of July celebrations in Republican dominated counties may thus be more politically biased events that socialize children into Republicans,” write Harvard Kennedy School Assistant Professor David Yanagizawa-Drott and Bocconi University Assistant Professor Andreas Madestam.

The three key findings of those attending July 4th celebrations:

  • When done before the age of 18, it increases the likelihood of a youth identifying as a Republican by at least 2 percent.
  • It raises the likelihood that parade watchers will vote for a Republican candidate by 4 percent.
  • It boosts the likelihood a reveler will vote by about 1 percent and increases the chances they’ll make a political contribution by 3 percent.

Finally, the report suggests that if people are looking for a super-patriotic July 4th, they should head to Republican towns. “Republican adults celebrate Fourth of July more intensively in the first place.”

Shut up already!

Yea Harvard, that’s exactly what I was thinking about at the age of 10 while watching a parade…I think I want to be a Republican. Not sure what that means but I want to be one. And I think when I get older and start making money I want to give 3% to my party…give me a break…

I tell ya, if I was a Democrat, I’d be a little pissed off by this study. You guys are getting thrown under the bus big time…

To view the entire report click here to Us News

What is this anyway…yet one more thing to pin the Republicans against the Democrats? Don’t they ever get tired? And by the way Harvard…how much did this little study cost? I mean hey, this is important stuff we need to know, right?

Well guys, whether you are Republican or Democrat, it shouldn’t matter. We are all one, celebrating our freedom, however, the way it’s going now, slowly but surely our freedoms are being whittled away at…

So Harvard, let me straighten all this out for you:

It doesn’t matter what your little study suggests…We are all Americans first before we choose a political party to be a part of…

And another thing; why don’t you teach your students the values – morals and principles America was founded on including God and leave the political bullshit out of it.

Hey now, that could be something for you time wasters to study…

In conclusion, from where I sit, you’d better enjoy the freedoms we still have left. One of these days in the near future, The 4th of July may take on a completely different meaning…no sparklers – no cook outs with family and friends. Little by little, the government is taking our freedom away and many of us aren’t watching or even paying attention to it.

And I’ll have to admit, I played right into the hands of all of this crap…I did get angry and defensive, however, I’m sticking up for the Democrats which probably is a surprise to these Harvard guys!

Why? Because they’re ordinary people just like me. Doesn’t matter if you’re Republican – Democrat – Green – Blue – White or Black…But that’s the goal here isn’t it Harvard? Too get everyone’s panties in a bunch yea?

Well, you almost got me but not quite. Americans are Americans and we’re proud of it. Those are the results of my study…

Final thought: God Bless our troops, their children and families for fighting for our freedom. Without them, we’d have nothing…including the right to publish this stupid Harvard report.

Whether you agree with me or not, please leave a comment below…

LeBron James…On the Offensive?

If you’re like a lot of sports enthusiasts, watching what’s happening on the basketball front has millions of viewer’s minds under somewhat of a spell . . . they can’t seem to get enough. Not only the love for the actual game but all the drama surrounding it.

LeBron James On the Offensive?I read a clip from the New York Times, N.B.A. blog yesterday of LeBron James poking fun at Dirk Nowitzki, playing game 4 with a 102 fever . . .

I can’t understand for the life of me, why he would stoop so low. Maybe it’s just me…

In our society, when a person is on top of their game, career or whatever, the person is totally glorified. That person tends to speak well – is polite – the greatest thing since sliced bread.

So why then would you want to jeopardize your perfectly- polished reputation over something so ridiculous and uncalled for?

LeBron James has totally offended the Cleveland Ohio fan base he once had complete control over and now, is he trying to shift the focus off of himself by making snide remarks about another player of the game or does he feel he can get away with it unscathed because he’s LeBron?

I’m not sure – but all it shows me is a person who is definitely lacking in character and values which he seemed to possess at one time. I think his immature tactics seems to reconfirm what his once loyal followers are still thinking today.

Unfortunately, this isn’t anything new in today’s society; if someone gets caught doing something wrong, or if someone is personally attacked, human nature kicks in – and we either fight back to clear our name or blame someone or something else for causing the situation.

2 Additional News Examples:

Weiner: His twitter account was hacked don’t you know . . .

Casey Anthony: Her parents and brother are the real culprits . . .

Anyway, these stories got me thinking on how well (or not) we take responsibility for our money back guarantees we offer our customers…the backbone of every business.

If you’re selling a product or service that you truly think is top-notch because you created it – spent long hours sweating over it – spent lots of money and poured your heart and soul into it, just because you love it doesn’t mean everyone else will . . . surprised?

There will be those people who won’t take the time to actually use your product/service – find it too time consuming – not enough bang for their buck or just not good enough etc., but will say what a flop it is. That would ultimately be a personal attack on you, wouldn’t you agree?

However, by getting upset at the customer who’s looking for their refund will only make you look unprofessional just like LeBron . . .

Remember, not every product and service is for everyone. Yes, you’ll spot the tire-kickers who just wanted something for nothing which can be very irritating. But that’s just a part of doing business.

The majority of people have good intentions of using the product/service and if they want their money back because they felt it didn’t work for them, well hell, give them a smile and live up to your guarantee…as soon as possible. Don’t make that transaction difficult for your customer.

Hurling around insults won’t help a damn thing but chisel away at your character and professionalism which . . . can also go along way by word of mouth.

Such remarks won’t get you more customers anytime soon . . . or followers such as in LeBron’s case in my opinion. Being offensive will always come back to bite you.

Being professional is what you want your customers too see in any given situation and, if treated well, that same customer might come back and try another product you’re offering. And, even spread a good word on your behalf about the way it was handled.

While we all have the freedom to say whatever we want, we also have the same freedom to choose our words and reactions.

Let’s choose them wisely when doing business.

If you’re selling a high quality product or service, you shouldn’t have many problems at all. Keep your head up no matter what the situation. Stick to your core values and you’ll have many, many happy customers.

And as far as LeBron? Better luck next year. . .

Memorial Day…One Memory Never Forgotten

I’ve been spending the last hour or so reading Memorial Day poems and stories – everything from tributes to fallen soldiers to remembrances of past and current war heroes that served and continue to serve our country proudly.

Memorial DayWords of undying love, gratitude and sorrow. Mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, sisters and brothers, all sharing tales of their personal heroes.

I came across a poem that brought back a personal memory of my hero…my Dad, who served in the Korean War.

Being the inquisitive little girl that I was, I’d ask my Dad to show me the pictures he had of his time spent in Korea and tell me what it was like; what he ate, where he slept, and even about the bugs and spiders I would imagine there being lots of over there…

But one question I would ask time and time again, never getting an answer too was, “Dad, did you ever kill anybody?”

He’d nonchalantly pull out another picture and continue on talking about the tin cans he ate from or reminisce about his troops like he never even heard me ask…all together avoiding the question.

My Dad passed away this past Christmas and the answer to my question was buried with him.

Sadly, he did say once that one of his buddies was blown up directly in front of him one day walking across a bridge…that was all he said and I could tell not to question him any further.

Now that I’m older, I try to understand how terrifying it must have been for my Dad and the rest of his troops to be on foreign soil fighting not only for their lives, but the lives of their buddies and for all of us here back home.

Below is a poem that depicts the raw emotion of one hero in his own, gut-wrenching words of yet another added element to the war we don’t think about…

I’m almost sure, this reflects the very agonizing reason of why my Dad, my hero never answered my question…

Sgt. Lenihan

Sgt. Lenihan was wounded in action and later received a Purple Heart. He never spoke with his family about the emotions he experienced during war, and they were very surprised to find this poem. Towards the end of Lenihan’s life, he actively sought out his old war buddies and described his time serving as one of the “worst and greatest experiences” of his life.

The DCoE Blog Team thanks the Lenihan family for allowing us to share this poem with our readers. We hope it helps you in your personal healing process, or those with whom you work or love.

I shot a man yesterday
And much to my surprise,
The strangest thing happened to me
I began to cry.

He was so young, so very young
And Fear was in his eyes,
He had left his home in Germany
And came to Holland to die.

And what about his Family
were they not praying for him?
Thank God they couldn’t see their son
And the man that had murdered him.

I knelt beside him
And held his hand–
I begged his forgiveness
Did he understand?

It was the War
And he was the enemy
If I hadn’t shot him
He would have shot me.

I saw he was dying
And I called him “Brother”
But he gasped out one word
And that word was “Mother.”

I shot a man yesterday
And much to surprise
A part of me died with Him
When Death came to close
His eyes.

On this Memorial Day, let us remember what so many brave men and women have given up to keep us free and safe but more importantly, the conditions they endure to ensure us of that.

On this day for many of our American heroes, unimaginable memories surface that are deeply seared into the very core of their hearts, minds and souls.

We see what war does on the outside, but I think we’re unable to fathom what war does on the inside…deep inside.

God, please Bless each and everyone of our heroes, current and past.

My Hero-My Dad-Leamon Waseity served in the Korean War 1950-1952. The greatest Dad ever. Love and miss you…

Leave your heartfelt thoughts and thanks below…

May 21, 2011…End Of The World As We Know It?

…Will you be left behind?

I was reading many of the articles surrounding tomorrow’s date, MAY 21, 2011 and how Bible goers and Christians truly believe that this kicks off the rapture, followed by 5 months which is the tribulation, finally in October – the end of the world as we know it.

End Of The WorldWhat many believe is He is giving us advanced warning as to what He is about to do. On Judgment Day, May 21st, 2011, this 5-month period of horrible torment will begin for all the inhabitants of the earth.

It will be on May 21st that God will raise up all the dead that have ever died from their graves. Earthquakes will ravage the whole world as the earth will no longer conceal its dead (Isaiah 26:21).

People who died as saved individuals will experience the resurrection of their bodies and immediately leave this world to forever be with the Lord.

Those who died unsaved will be raised up as well, but only to have their lifeless bodies scattered about the face of all the earth. Death will be everywhere.

Now being a Christian myself, I read a couple of pages of the Bible to start my day, every day along with a daily devotional…

But I have to say, I missed the mathematics involved with this. This article excerpt was written by Gus Lubin, Business Insider:

The first End Of The World proof is based on Genesis 7:4, when God said to Noah: “Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”

When God referred to seven days, he meant both seven days and seven thousand years, because “one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” The flood occurred in 4990 BC. Seven thousand years later is 2011.

The second End Of The World proof looks at the significance of the number of days between the Crucifixion and May 21, 2011.

There are 722,500 days between these dates. 722,500 is a significant number because it is composed of the significant numbers 5x10x17x5x10x17. Five signifies redemption; ten signifies completion; and 17 signifies heaven. The numbers represent the day of redemption (5) and the end of the Christian era (10) and the ascent to heaven (17) — and these factors are doubled for added significance.

Now I’m not saying one way or the other if I believe somehow the Bible is giving us clues and a heads up to be prepared, but I can say I’m finding it a little unnerving.

What I do believe is that someday, it WILL take place. But my assessment from reading the scriptures is that God comes back like a thief in the night – in a blink of an eye. God only knows for certain the exact day – the exact hour He will allow this to take place.

My question to you is…have you given it any thought if it is true?

I take care of an older gentleman, a cancer – stroke and brain tumor survivor who loves the Lord and seriously prays many times a day for the coming back of Jesus Christ. He honestly gets excited when he sees turmoil…for example the Middle-East chaos and the happenings with Israel currently. He thinks it brings the Rapture closer…

He’s suffering and wants to go I assume, but when he asks me if I’m ready…I have mixed emotions.

For one thing, I love my life and the people in it. Yes, there is much evil and suffering but all in all, life is a beautiful gift.

I feel my work is not done here yet, but I also realize that Heaven will be such a better place…if I make it to Heaven? Will my other family members make it? Friends? My Dog?

I guess for me it all comes down to the unknown of what will be…

Maybe this is just a wake-up call for all of us to take stock in our values and beliefs. We should take the time to look at ourselves and ask what it is we truly believe in…Now would be a great time…

I’ve read many tweets and heard many jokes about May 21st being the end, and I hear some people want to just party. I like to party but not this time!

I personally believe in God, that Jesus will be back for us as God has promised and by putting my trust in Him, anything is possible.

So if tomorrow never comes…what say you? Leave your comments below.

Friday The 13th Superstitions… Coincidence or Curse?

Good day to Income Insiders readers…and I mean really good day due to it being Friday the 13th!

I’ve never been much for superstition, although I find it to be rather fascinating. Especially since I dug up some weird facts surrounding this partnership between the day Friday and the number 13.

Friday The 13th SuperstitionsI never knew that so many people have friday the 13th superstitions and are; apt to be more nervous – won’t go to work – won’t drive – have full blown panic attacks or just stay inside hoping for this evil day to end. This phobia as its called “paraskevidekatriaphobia” is devastating to approximately 17 to 21 million people according to Dr. Donald Dossey, a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of phobias.

If he’s right, no fewer than eight percent of Americans remain in the grips of a very old superstition…

Now on the flip side of that, many people embrace all the scary movies – witches – warlocks that come out around that time – feeding into their emotions…Some can’t get enough of it.

Out of all the facts and stats I uncovered, there is actually one that is said to be POSITIVE…It’s about your MONEY! (I’ll get to that in a second…)

Okay readers, here are some weird things about this ghastly day, Friday the 13th.

Friday has been an ominous day for a very long time, and in many varied cultures. It has been held to be both unlucky and as a day when evil influences are at work.

In Ancient Rome, Friday was execution day.

From the Christian Bible:

– Friday is reputed to be the day Eve gave Adam the apple.
– It is said to be the day Adam & Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden.
– Friday is also reputed to be the day they (Adam & Eve) died.
– The Great Flood is supposed to have started on a Friday.
– God was said to have struck the builders of the Towel of Babel and created the confusion of many tongues, on a Friday.
– The Temple of Solomon was destroyed on a Friday.
– Christ was crucified and died on a Friday.

In Britain, Friday was customarily Hanging Day.

It is said accidents are more common on Fridays, however, that may be more because Friday is the end of the work week and people are hurrying to get away from work, than any sinister reasons.

Other superstitions concerning Friday include:

– Clothing made on a Friday will never fit properly.

– Visiting your doctor on Friday will not have a good result.

– Never change your bed on a Friday, as it will result in nightmares and bad dreams.

– One should not move their residence or marry on a Friday, if they expect any good to come of it.

– Cut your nails on Friday and you cut them for sorrow.

– Ill news received on a Friday will etch wrinkles in the face of the recipient, more so than the same news received on any other day.

– Friday is an inauspicious day to start a trip as “misfortune will bound to follow.”

– Ships that set sail on Friday will have bad luck. ~ This superstition is supported by the Urban legend of the H.M.S. Friday.

Now the Superstitious Number 13:

– There are thirteen steps leading to the gallows.

Bin Laden Reaching From the Grave…

Okay Income Insiders…Joni has to admit being a “news” junkie, full-fledged.

Now I’m compelled to make this post only because I’m struggling with the news of the day…

Do we show the dead pictures of Bin Laden, or don’t we?

bin laden body photoI’m really embarrassed to say that I even let myself get swept up with all of this.

However, I questioned myself and I’m having a hard time coming up with a decision. I have gone back and forth – weighing different things and different beliefs.

And I still don’t know.

Here’s a guy who took so much away from the USA; people, families, children, workers, businesses, security…

….and replaced it with fear – doubt – anguish – turmoil – mourning…

Now that he’s been hunted and his evil finally released from this earth, is that something we as Americans need to see? Is it not good enough just that our government told us that they are sure by 99.9% that it is him?

I think for me that’s where the problem is. I could care less about seeing a picture of a dead man that needed to go that reeked so much havoc on our soil.

The problem for me is that I do not trust our government. And I know the media plays right into the hands of what’s going on but actually I’m thankful for that. Only because we need to be informed somehow. Again, I don’t trust our government.

I just never know what parts they’re leaving out. I think if we all knew the truth, the real truth, we’d probably be in the streets holding up signs, protesting and fighting for a freedom just like in the Middle East.

But we are not given that chance; We’re told what to eat – where not to smoke – how to bring up our children – not to wear anything patriotic – not to promote the real meaning of Christmas – how we don’t know how to create jobs and so on and so on…while people are allowed to protest at OUR soldiers funerals with THE most disgusting – vulgar crap I’ve ever, ever heard. That’s okay for some reason. What the hell? It sickens me that one or two people can say “I’m offended” and the entire country bows down…get over it. If you don’t like it…go live somewhere else. Really.

You know, since this is a business site I have to say this: In a very sick way, Bin laden lived his life fulfilling his purpose and living his dream…to kill as many infidels as he could. He was supported by many. Now, here we are wanting to live out our purpose and dreams in a very productive and helping way…but are we supported? Hell no. The more money you make the more you’re penalized…

When are we going to say “enough is enough?” What will it take? Seems to me someone is setting us up to fight against each other…but why?

Anyway, I’m not one to follow the politically correct bull shit. It doesn’t belong here. We as Americans are smart. We know how to make our way. We know what works and what doesn’t. We care about each other and everyone in the world.

But somehow the average “Jack or Jill” doesn’t have a voice anymore…well let me remind them if it wasn’t for us, there wouldn’t be a government now would there? No tax money…awe…no tax money to keep them up and running….

I feel by posing this debate in our government about Bin Laden, it’s pitting us as Americans against each other and poisoning our minds.

In closing, I’ll probably never come up with a good answer about those photos. We all want to avenge the families of 911 and all the suffering we silently stood by watching and praying for, pouring out our hearts, letting them know we care but also, if our government was honest like it used to be…I wouldn’t be posting this.

Man, how times have changed…and not for the better.

Leave a comment below if this has hit you as hard as it did me…I welcome comments from all parties…but really, drop the party bull shit. I want to hear from just the average Joe…nothing rude, cruel or condescending please.

End of America…Truth or Scare?

Hi guys . . . hope you’re having a great day!

Hey, I wanted to run something by you that I viewed over the weekend. I’d love to hear your comments about this so please, post yours and read what others are saying about it.

End of AmericaI’ve been hearing all about this so-called controversial End of America video that’s been advertised on the radio, TV and even from a couple of my friends. The video stresses how this guy who made some predictions in the past, (which came true) feels rather passionately about the research he’s done and what he’s uncovered.

He desperately wants us to be informed on what we need to do to stay safe while this “thing” comes our way.

I do stay up to date with the news, sometimes being referred to as a news junkie, so this really started to pique my interest.

Well, it finally got the best of me . . . I had to watch it for myself.

After watching the entire thing, I’m still not really sure how I feel about it. While most of the advertisement centers on it being so controversial, really, I didn’t find it to be as such.

I suppose it could be somewhat, but I guess the way it’s presented was just a great marketing tactic used . . .  the major motivating factor to drive people to it. . . fear.  Obviously, it worked on me.

However, some of the content I do agree with . . . some I’m not sure.

We all know for a fact that this world we live in currently has taken somewhat of a slight turn, um, not sure which way or how much. I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Lots of horrific global conditions are occurring, violent weather nationally- even in our own backyards and the economic direction we’re headed for is very unsettling.

So yea, parts I do realize and understand.

But I’m not one for all “doom and gloom,” or . . . ”everything roses” either. So, I’m still teetering on the fence about it.

Now, this video is all about money . . . your money – the lack of – how to make more – how to keep what you have and how not to lose any of it when the so called “End of America” becomes our reality. . . if it happens or if it doesn’t.

But, since Income Insiders is all about “Breaking the Income Barrier,” I had to pass this on for anyone who is interested.

Regardless what you believe, everyone can learn something from watching this. It’s always a good thing to be prepared in any kind of rough circumstances . . .

So go ahead and check out this End of America video and share your thoughts on it . . . this video really can light up any conversation, either way-good or bad.
